5th XV Statistics: Season 2001-2002
The 5's started to bear out the fruits of the hard work done in the first 2 season's of Belfast Harlequins and actually managed to win a few games this season, most notably the trouncing of Randalstown in the last game of both the season and in Ormeau's existence as a rugby club.
There was also another appearance in the semi-final of the Forster Cup this time losing at Ballyshannon on the same day the Queen mum died; After leading at half-time and essentially having the game won, the 5's took the head-staggers and not normally having the benefit of subs being allowed in games changed the team en masse and basically threw the game away. The disappointment was evident on the 3 hour bus trip home for all of about 2 minutes before the customry revelry kicked-in....
Another notable match that deserves a mention is the 5's only ever "win" against the Malone Vikings when the game was abandoned at half-time due to the ref having a hangover or something, with the 5's in the lead by 7 points to 5.
